Paula Waterman has been making art all her life and started
exhibiting her work professionally in 1981. She has become
known internationally for her work in Scratchboard but is
gaining recognition for her oil painting as well, a medium
she started working with in recent years. Her approach ranges
from portrait style to landscape with or without incidental
animal subjects. A particular interest in African wildlife
and landscape subjects is the cause AND effect of trips to
Kenya, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania. She also works a
lot with canine and equine subjects. This work is sometimes
on commission, other times borne simply of a love for the
subject. A common thread in all her work in both media would
probably be the critical importance of light source and light
color; In fact she feels that light is the true subject in
all her work
